The stories...

By Bryan Kemp - North East England

This is something that happened to me and my future wife in 1990. We were living in a small town in Essex at the time, in a two bed-roomed flat, still with my parents and had never noticed anything strange or unusual before.

One night, for no particular reason, I suddenly woke up, not laying down but sitting upright (which I NEVER do) and I saw a “shadow” or shape of a “person”, not very tall, maybe 3-4 foot high, “standing” at the bottom of the bed. Strange enough but what made it even weirder was my other half to be, woke up at the SAME time and saw exactly the same as me! We just sat there looking at this “figure” or what ever it was and suddenly it was gone. Just went!

After a while, we went back to sleep but the next morning my future wife had a massive, and I mean massive, bruise on one of her thighs. To get that size bruise, she would have certainly known how she got it but she honestly had not fallen over or been kicked or walked into something. Alien or Paranormal? We’ll never know.

Another strange event(s) occurred last year in October in our house near Cramlington. My daughter was having a small birthday party, one particular Sunday. My wife and I had got everything ready and were sitting down in the front room having a cuppa before her guests turned up. Suddenly, one of the balloons just burst! It was just resting on the floor, we were on a settee nowhere near it and our Demon cat was nowhere near it. Is it normal for balloons to just burst? But there’s more! During the rest of the day, photos were taken, and after we got them printed out, two orbs are seen in our front room! Coincidence or not?!

Faceless Entity - by Robert

One night in June of 2004, I walked across the street to my mother's house to bum a cigarette from my brother. The house sits back from the street a good 50 yards. It was about eleven o'clock at night, so it was pretty dark. As I'm walking up the driveway, I see a shape of a person coming toward me and pass me, almost bumping in to me. After a few seconds I realized that no one visits this late, so I turn around and yell out to the person, "Hey!" He stops, turns around and, it being so dark, I can't make out who it is. So I say rudely, "Who the hell are you?" No response verbally; instead he starts walking back toward me and I to him.

I still can't make out who it could be until he got within two feet away from me. At that moment the hair the back of my neck stood straight up because this thing had no face! I could see clearly a man's body, shape of a man's head, but the features were... the best way I can describe it is it looked like the thing from the movie Predator when it was invisible.

I did an about face and walked very quickly up to the front door of the house with this thing right on my heels. When I reached the door, my brother was coming out and the thing kept walking past and back toward the street. To this day I couldn't tell you what it was. Shortly thereafter my brother passed away, and I now wonder if it was Death itself. This happened in Quartz Hill, CORNWAL.

Hooded Men - by Victoria

In 1973 my ex-husband and I purchased an old one-story house in North Babylon, New York. Our daughter was only three years old when we moved in. When our daughter was around four years of age, she would say to me, "I just saw some hooded men go through the wall." Not making a big deal of it because children are known to have wild imaginations, I forgot about it until several months later when she said to me, "There they go again." This time, I questioned her. She told me that she sees little hooded men go through the wall, but she cannot see their faces. There was no mention of them again for some time.

In 1980 after my husband left, I started to hear voices - very low, chattering voices, but nothing I could make out upon awakening. Since my bedroom wall was abutted to the living room wall, I was certain one of my girls left the television or radio on from the night before. I could still hear the low, chattering voices as I was walking out of my bedroom and into the living room. Once in the living room, everything stopped - the chatter was gone and nothing was left on.

In 1986, I remarried a man who had suffered two heart attacks while in my home. From time to time, I would awake to the same low, chattering voices and again nothing was left on.

Around 1989 my daughter was relocated to a bedroom in the basement where she had her own privacy and telephone number. One night she called me on the telephone, hysterical crying. She had a bad dream and in the dream she tried to call me, but the numbers were missing on the telephone. When she awoke from that bad dream, she saw a tall, dark shadow standing in the corner of her room - it appeared to be a man wearing a tall hat or hood. Her dream became a reality - she was calling me!

Afterward, we spoke about the little hooded men she used to see when she was younger and she remembered everything. She told me that they floated and weren't very tall. She never did see them directly head on, only through the corners of her eyes.

In 1990, my husband died in the living room of our home - his final heart attack. For that year I was widowed, I did not hear those low, chattering voices, although I always felt a presence in the house. Then, I don't know if I was dreaming or not, but one night I was awakened by a breeze blowing on my face, but the breeze was coming from the front of my bed and not the window behind me. There stood a tall, dark figure that scared me to death. but suddenly, I was fast asleep again.

Another night, I saw in a blurry vision: the hooded men my daughter saw when she was small in the hallway between my bedroom and hers when she was little. They appeared to be groping at me - there were about 6 or 7 of them. Nothing after that.

In 1991 I remarried and all was quiet. In 1992 I moved out of there for fear something was going to come back and get my husband like it seemed to have done to my first two. The people who bought my home, the wife had a brain tumor removed after her first year in the house. I have never contacted her so I don't know if the demons are still there... I just know that I had left them behind!

By Margaret, North Shields, Tyne & Wear, UK, 1973

In 1973 I was 20 and just about to get married. At that time accommodation was hard to come by and after a lot of searching we saw a house advertised to rent in a convenient location for us. When we went to view it we were astonished. The rent was really low but the house was lovely, well furnished, and looked after. When the owner showed us round she mentioned that she lived in a caravan which seemed rather odd. Why would anyone live in a caravan when they owned a house like that? I moved in alone as we weren't to be married for another 6 weeks. Right from the start I had an uncomfortable feeling when alone there especially in the kitchen and bathroom. One night after my fiancé had gone home, I went upstairs to bed and went to sleep only to be awakened a short time after to the sound of someone running up the stairs. In my sleepy state I assumed it was my fiancé returning for some reason and turned over and went back to sleep. This occurred again the next night, but this time I woke up properly and I got out of bed to investigate. There was no-one there and no apparent reason for the footsteps. A few nights later I was sitting up in bed reading at about midnight when out of the corner of my eye I saw the top cover on the bed move about an inch down the bed. I dismissed this as being imagination and continued reading. A few moments later the whole cover slid down the bed as if it was being pulled by someone standing at the foot of the bed. It slid right off the bottom of the bed and lay in a heap on the floor at the bottom. I was terrified! I put my head under the blankets and stayed there until morning. The next week we were married and things seemed to settle a little. Within weeks, though, the footsteps on the stairs were back nearly every night and I got so that I didn't want to go home alone in the evening and would go to the local library until it was time for my husband to come home from work. One night he had gone to a meeting at church (we were both Sunday School teachers) and I was left alone at home. I was cooking some beetroot and went to check on how it was doing. For some reason the kitchen door had been rehung so that it opened the other way and the light switch was now behind the door and it was necessary to go into the room and around the door to use it. As soon as I entered the room, I was gripped by a great feeling of foreboding and I switched the light on quickly and ran out again. From the door I could see that the beetroot was burning, but nothing would make me go back in that kitchen. In fact I was so spooked that I went and sat on the front doorstep to wait for my husband to come home. The beetroot and the pan were burnt to a cinder. We gave up and moved in with his parents within a couple of days.
I talked to a woman who lived further down the street as we were leaving and she told me that her daughter and her husband had looked at moving into the house but thought it had a funny atmosphere and she also mentioned that nobody ever stayed there very long. As a matter of interest I was told that many years ago Stan Laurel had lived there for a while in his youth when his father was manager of the local theatre.
